I moved in to my first house af couple years ago, i have never owned anything before, i have alway rented.
There has been a lot of tiny renovations, and since i dont have a million income job, i have to save where i can.
So i decided to make my owen headboard, i recycled some huge cardboard boxes i already had, and bought some fabric and padding to make it soft.
I started by measuring out how big i wanted it to be, i knew i wanted it to be a bit bigger then the bed, og off course higher. I had som spots on the wall i wanted to cover, because you could see the dirt from the hands on the wall, because i haven't had a headbord for the last couple of years.
So after i godt the size, i laid out the boxes and cut them to the size. I then glued them together and drilled a few holes, because i wanted to create a dented look in the padding.
I glued on the padding, and laid out the fabric, and sew the buttons on and pulled them tight, and into the padding. I then secured the fabric on the back and i was done with the headboard.
it wasn't as fast as i sounds, because it took about a half day, a good 3 to4 hours if you take away my dinnerbreaks and such, so i recommend that you either put some good music on, or a audio book, så that you have som entertainment along the way.
But it turned out pretty good, and it makes the bedroom look more put together.
At the moment im going trough one room at the time, so i can get the furniture i want and so it all fits together. But it takes some time since i have to save up for every furniture. And where i can save a few bucks i do, but it also makes the house more personal and homy in my opinion, if there are things you did yourself.
